Carlo Ancelotti said of the incident: “Honestly, I don’t know what happened. I think there was something with one of the Braga assistants. I don’t know what happened, if it was him or with Modrić. But, he was calm once he was in the dressing room later.”
Vinicius Jr, meanwhile, also was unsure of what had happened:
Vinicius Jr: “Rudiger’s fight? I don’t know what happened, Rudiger is a very calm guy, I don’t know why he reacted like that. It’s strange.”

Spanish media outlet ‘La Ser’ reported after the game that Rudiger was the recipient of racist abuse from one of the Braga coaching assistants.
Rudiger, after the game, took to Twitter to clarify there was no racism involved.
“It’s all good again guys – I am relaxed,” Rudiger said on Twitter. “He definitely did not insult me racially, there was just a little dispute after our ways have crossed each other after the final whistle.
Let’s focus on Saturday now!!! #HalaMadrid”
